Celebrating Abby Pang’s Recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ 2026 Edition | Family Law

We are proud to share that Abby Pang, our founder and principal lawyer at Illuma Family Law, has been recognized in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ for her work in Family Law.

This recognition is a significant professional milestone — and one we’re excited to celebrate as a team and community.

What is Ones to Watch?

Now in its fifth year, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ recognizes early-career lawyers who are making meaningful contributions to the legal field. What makes this award particularly notable is its selection process — it’s entirely based on peer review. Legal professionals are nominated by their peers and evaluated confidentially by fellow lawyers in the same region and practice area.

That means this isn’t a self-submitted honor — it’s an acknowledgment from the legal community itself, reflecting who they would trust with their own clients.

This year, more than 294,000 evaluations were submitted across Canada, making the recognition both competitive and deeply meaningful.

Abby’s Impact in Family Law

Abby founded Illuma Family Law with a clear mission: to bring clarity, compassion, and a client-centered approach to one of the most emotionally complex areas of law. As a female-led and female-owned firm in downtown Vancouver, Illuma stands apart not only for its values, but for its commitment to supporting families through life’s transitions with empathy and strength.

Abby’s inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™ affirms what our clients and colleagues already know — that she is a thoughtful, strategic, and trusted advocate for families navigating legal challenges.

A Recognition That Reflects Our Values

Family Law is evolving, and the rise in early-career recognition in this area speaks to its increasing importance in Canadian legal practice. As society changes and family structures become more diverse, the need for accessible, informed, and compassionate legal guidance has never been greater.

We’re honoured to be part of that shift — and to see Abby recognized for the role she plays in shaping it.

Looking Ahead

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the legal professionals recognized in this year’s Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada™, especially those working in Family Law. Your contributions are helping to build a more responsive, inclusive, and thoughtful legal system for all Canadians.

And to our clients and community — thank you for trusting us. This recognition is a reflection not only of Abby’s leadership, but of the relationships we’ve built and the work we’re privileged to do every day.

Here’s to continued growth, impact, and service.

Elyse Stacey

Elyse Stacey was born and raised in Vancouver, and after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, she returned to her hometown to begin her professional journey. She graduated with high distinction from the UofT, earning a spot on the Dean's List while double majoring in psychology and anthropology.

Elyse thoroughly enjoyed her studies, especially when evolutionary theories intersected with psychology, allowing her to explore social biases that continue to shape the world today. This unique perspective along with working in various research positions, where she witnessed firsthand the gender inequalities that persist within and beyond academia, fuels her desire to support women facing adversity, whether in personal or legal matters.

In her current role as Client Service Coordinator and Office Administrator at Illuma Law, Elyse thrives in a collaborative, client-centered environment. She finds a significant amount of intrinsic motivation and satisfaction assisting our clients in need. In the future, she aspires to grow further in the legal field, focusing on legal support or exploring managerial/human resources opportunities.

Outside of work, Elyse is passionate about the performing arts, reading (especially Stephen King), staying active, and traveling to connect with new cultures.
